Project Description
What started in 1826 as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. is now a nationally recognized not-for-profit part of New Haven, Connecticut. The Adams Neuroscience Center will be a 505,000 square foot part of the Saint Raphael Campus and is carefully designed to maintain existing standards of excellence in the Yale New Haven Health system. Cutting-edge treatments and research in neurological disorders will be at the forefront of this new center. Maintaining the Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the nation’s highest honor of nursing excellence, is essential to its success.
These standards exist across the Yale New Haven Hospital campuses, including Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, and Smilow Cancer Hospital. This new project is sure to have a positive impact on the New Haven community, through partnerships with Yale University and the CHIRAL program, which include initiatives to improve patient safety and healthcare delivery through multidisciplinary research and innovation. Students gain hands-on experience while contributing to better healthcare outcomes.
Challenges and Solutions
Ensuring optimal comfort and functionality for patients and staff in the new neuroscience facility posed significant challenges. The facility’s complex HVAC requirements demanded precise control and reliability. Mechanical Solutions, Inc. addressed these challenges by supplying Griswold Controls’ Coil Piping Packages. These pre-assembled systems streamline installation and reduce costs, featuring over 900 standard configurations for easy integration. The Isolator R Valves included in these packages have stainless steel flow control cartridges that absorb pressure fluctuations, simplifying balancing and enhancing performance.
This approach has been successfully implemented in other projects, such as Lowell Elementary School and Douthit Hills, where the Isolator R Valves played a key role in maintaining system balance and efficiency.
