The Center for Innovation at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, part of Rutgers University, represents a forward-thinking approach to healthcare that merges cutting-edge technology with compassionate patient care. The facility aims to provide an optimized environment for advanced medical research, training, and patient treatment, making HVAC reliability and climate control paramount. 

To meet the specialized HVAC needs of this facility, Griswold Controls’ Pre-assembled Coil Piping Packages (CPP-Q) with QuickSet Manual Balance Valves were selected for installation. These packages, provided by Wales Darby, an expert in HVAC solutions, enable precise flow control critical to maintaining optimal temperatures and air quality within the hospital’s diverse spaces. The products enhance HVAC efficiency, enabling the Center for Innovation to focus on its mission of pioneering healthcare advancements in a stable and comfortable setting. 

Challenges and Solutions 

The Center for Innovation’s emphasis on advanced technology and research requires an environment with exceptional HVAC control. The following challenges were addressed through the installation of Griswold Controls products: 

  • Versatile Climate Control Across Specialized Areas: From research laboratories to patient care rooms, each area within the Center for Innovation has unique temperature and air quality requirements. Consistent and adaptable climate control is essential to meet regulatory standards, ensure patient comfort, and provide researchers with an optimal environment for scientific work. 
  • Accurate Flow Regulation for High-Efficiency HVAC: As a facility dedicated to innovation, the Center required an HVAC system capable of maintaining efficiency while providing precise temperature control. Inaccurate or inconsistent water flow to the HVAC coils could result in energy inefficiencies or uncomfortable temperature fluctuations. 

The CPP-Q packages facilitate a stable and regulated water flow to the HVAC coils, which is critical to achieving consistent temperatures throughout the facility. The venturi in the QuickSet valves allow fine adjustments to the water flow rate, enabling each area to maintain its unique climate needs with minimal energy waste.
