Arizona Western College (AWC) is celebrating the completion of the DeAnza Residence Hall, a modern student housing facility designed to transform campus life. As part of a $35 million capital building initiative, the residence hall represents a significant investment in student experience and campus development.

For more than 60 years, Arizona Western College has prioritized student life and community engagement. The DeAnza Residence Hall reflects this commitment as a three-story facility featuring 216 double-occupancy rooms equipped with private bathrooms and mini-fridges.

The building also offers a wide range of amenities including a theater room, fitness center, rooftop patio, group study areas, laundry facilities, and convenient mail delivery. These features help create a vibrant residential community while supporting academic success and personal development.

Sustainability played a key role in the design of the facility. The residence hall incorporates LED lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and high-performance insulation to reduce energy consumption. It is also connected to the campus geothermal system, allowing the building to harness renewable energy for heating and cooling while reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

HVAC System Integration

The DeAnza Residence Hall relies on advanced hydronic solutions from Griswold Controls to maintain efficient and reliable HVAC performance throughout the building.

The system integrates CPP-2IRIS and CPP-3IRIS coil piping packages with Unimizer actuated valves. These components provide precise water flow regulation and accurate temperature control within the residence hall’s HVAC infrastructure.

Griswold Controls delivered a comprehensive, one-source solution that combines the Custom Packaged Pumping (CPP) system with the Unimizer actuated valves. This approach simplifies procurement, ensures product compatibility, and reduces installation complexity for contractors.

By sourcing these critical components from a single manufacturer, the project team eliminated the logistical challenges of coordinating multiple suppliers while improving system performance and reliability.
