Project Description

Golden, Colorado is home to the world’s largest single-site brewery, the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater, and now, the Aurum Golden Apartments – a modern apartment community designed to “Live Exceptionally™.” The development emphasizes collective living with high-quality amenities, a sense of community, and innovative housing solutions that blend work, life, and recreation.

For a project with such high standards, the HVAC system could not compromise resident comfort. Griswold Controls’ Streamline Control valves were selected for their compact design, durability, and precise flow control.

Installed with internal actuators and automatic flow-limiting cartridges, the Streamline valves save installation time and reduce space requirements. Lead-free construction allows safe use on domestic hot water coils, while the ceramic disc technology ensures reliable modulation and zero leak-by, even under high pressures.

According to LONG Building Technologies, “350 Griswold no-lead brass Streamline Control valves with automatic flow limiting cartridges were installed on fan coil units using domestic hot water coils. The configuration reduced installation time and simplified balancing, impressing the contractor with ease of installation and performance.”

The result is an HVAC system capable of delivering exceptional comfort and efficiency for residents throughout the community.

Griswold Streamline Control Valves

Streamline Control

Griswold Controls Streamline Control valves are compact, lead-free actuated valves with internal automatic flow-limiting cartridges. Designed for fan coil units and domestic hot water HVAC applications, they provide precise flow modulation using durable ceramic discs. The design simplifies installation, reduces space requirements, and ensures reliable performance throughout the building.

Gold standard this, Denver Broncos that, let’s get down to brass tacks. The valves are Lead-Free for potable water – domestic systems even though they are installed on the HVAC system. Compact design and very simple installation – the actuator can be wired remotely which saves space. The Streamline valve is the first actuated valve in the industry to use a ceramic disc to modulate the flow. Ceramic discs have been used for decades in plumbing fixtures because they are durable, very low torque, and shut off against high pressures with zero leak-by.

We reached out to our rep and they had this to say about the project:

“LONG sold 350 Qty. Griswold no-lead brass Streamline Control valves with automatic flow limiting cartridges for the Aurum Gateway Apartment project. These were used in an application with fan coil units that use domestic hot water coils to heat the space. The Streamline valves are the perfect solution for these applications because they are smaller than conventional control valves. The Streamline valves are smaller because the actuator is internal to the valve. Also, this Streamline valve configuration reduces installation time because the balance cartridge is internal to the valve also, giving the contractor less fittings that they must install. The contractor was impressed with the ease of installation and the performance of the Griswold Streamline Control Valves.”
